Prophetic Illustration
Imagine a city surrounded by darkness while a watchman stands upon the wall through the night. The watchman may not see every danger approaching, but his position gives him the responsibility to remain alert. Suddenly, an enemy attempts to enter through a hidden gate. Before the enemy can advance, the watchman sounds the alarm.
In the same way, midnight prayer represents spiritual vigilance. It is a time to bring fears, dreams, burdens, and anxieties before God. The purpose of prayer is not to make a person live in fear of dreams, but to establish confidence in God’s protection and power.
