50 MFM Prayer Points Against Afflictions and Evil Family Patterns
Prayer Focus
This prayer session is focused on confronting persistent afflictions, destructive family patterns, recurring setbacks, inherited ungodly patterns, cycles of disappointment, stagnation, repeated failure, fear, poverty, broken relationships, and other patterns that appear to repeat from one generation to another. The emphasis is on repentance, renouncing ungodly patterns, standing on the authority of Scripture, and asking God for deliverance, restoration, and a new beginning.
Bible Exhortation
God is able to break destructive patterns and establish a new testimony in the life of His people. Scripture declares that Christ has redeemed believers from the curse and that those who are in Christ are made new.
A family history does not have to become a person’s destiny. What happened to previous generations does not mean that the same thing must continue indefinitely. Through faith in Christ, repentance, obedience, prayer, and dependence upon God, a person can walk in a new direction.
The Bible says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17.
The battle against destructive patterns should therefore not be approached with fear. The believer should approach God with faith, humility, and confidence in His Word. Instead of accepting recurring affliction as inevitable, cry to God for mercy and deliverance.
Psalm 34:19 reminds us that although the righteous may face many afflictions, the Lord delivers him out of them all. This means affliction does not have the final word.
The purpose of these prayers is not to condemn family members or blame ancestors. It is to seek God’s intervention, reject ungodly practices, receive forgiveness, and establish a godly pattern for the future.
Prophetic Illustration
Imagine a family walking along the same road for generations. At every particular point on the road, they encounter the same obstacle. One generation struggles with it, the next generation encounters it, and another generation seems to face something similar.
Then someone discovers another road.
The old road represents destructive patterns that have been repeatedly tolerated, practiced, or reinforced. The new road represents the new life available through Christ.
The person does not have to remain on the old road simply because previous generations walked there. Through Christ, repentance, obedience, prayer, wisdom, and godly choices, a new path can be established.
The prophetic picture is this:
“The cycle ends here. The pattern changes here. The testimony begins here.”
What has been repeated for years can be interrupted by the grace of God. What has produced tears can give way to testimony. What has produced stagnation can give way to progress. What has produced fear can give way to faith.

Spiritual Symptoms
These are areas to examine prayerfully rather than automatically assuming that every difficulty has a spiritual cause:
- Repeated destructive behaviors across generations.
- Persistent family conflicts.
- Recurring patterns of fear and hopelessness.
- Repeated relationship breakdowns.
- Repeated financial irresponsibility.
- Cycles of destructive addictions or sinful habits.
- Persistent bitterness and unforgiveness within a family.
- Repeated involvement in ungodly practices.
- Patterns of abandonment or rejection.
- Repeated decisions that produce unnecessary destruction.
- Persistent spiritual lukewarmness.
- Resistance to repentance and godly correction.
- Repeated involvement with harmful environments.
- Cycles of dishonesty or manipulation.

- Persistent stagnation caused by poor choices.

Important: These signs should not be used to diagnose demonic activity or condemn family members. Many difficulties also have psychological, social, medical, financial, or practical causes and may require appropriate professional help alongside prayer.
