Prayer Focus

Bible Exhortation

Paul instructed Timothy not to allow his youth to become a limitation to his spiritual influence:

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers.” — 1 Timothy 4:12

A youth leader must first become an example before becoming an instructor. The power of leadership is strengthened when the leader’s private life agrees with the message being preached publicly.

God can use young people powerfully. He can raise them as witnesses, worshippers, evangelists, intercessors, teachers, missionaries, entrepreneurs, professionals, and kingdom builders. Therefore, youth leaders should not merely entertain young people; they should disciple, equip, encourage, correct, and mobilize them for God’s purposes.

The fire of revival must begin within the leaders and spread through the youth ministry. A leader who continually seeks God can become a channel through which others encounter Christ.

Romans 12:11 says:

“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”

The word fervent carries the picture of being spiritually boiling or burning. Youth leadership requires this spiritual fervency. May every youth leader receive fresh strength, renewed vision, greater wisdom, and fresh fire to serve faithfully.

Prophetic Illustration

Imagine a dry field during a long season without rain. The grass becomes weak, the soil becomes hard, and the land appears incapable of producing anything significant. Then rain begins to fall. The dry ground absorbs the water, dormant seeds begin to respond, and new life gradually appears.

A youth ministry can sometimes resemble that dry field. Young people may possess tremendous potential, but without proper spiritual nourishment, their gifts can remain dormant. A godly youth leader can become a channel through which biblical truth, prayer, encouragement, discipleship, and godly leadership reach those young lives.

Now imagine a small flame being protected from the wind. As it receives fuel, it becomes stronger. Eventually, it can ignite other lamps.

That is the picture of revival leadership.

The youth leader receives fresh fire from God, develops spiritual strength, and helps ignite a generation for Christ.

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Confession

I belong to Jesus Christ, and my life is available for His kingdom purposes. I refuse to be a careless leader. I receive grace to lead with wisdom, humility, courage, integrity, patience, and spiritual discernment.

I will not lead from human strength alone. I depend upon the Holy Spirit. My spiritual fire will not go out. My prayer altar will not collapse. My love for God’s Word will not die.
