Scripture says:

“Train up a child in the way he should go.” — Proverbs 22:6

Training requires patience and repetition. Children learn through instruction, observation, example, correction, encouragement, questions, stories, songs, activities, and consistent relationships.

Paul also instructed Timothy:

“Be thou an example of the believers.” — 1 Timothy 4:12

Children’s workers must therefore understand that their lives teach alongside their lessons.

A worker may teach forgiveness while demonstrating forgiveness.

A worker may teach prayer while maintaining a prayerful life.

A worker may teach kindness while treating children with kindness.

A worker may teach truth while living truthfully.

Prophetic Illustration

Imagine a gardener caring for young plants.

A gardener cannot force a plant to become mature overnight.

Children’s ministry is similar.
