1. PRAYER FOCUS

2. BIBLE EXHORTATION

Scripture reveals that God has a special concern for widows and other vulnerable people.

Psalm 68:5 declares that God is a Father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. Deuteronomy 10:18 says that God executes justice for the fatherless and widow. Psalm 146:9 reminds us that the Lord watches over the stranger and sustains the fatherless and widow.

The Bible also teaches God’s people to defend the vulnerable and speak for those who cannot adequately speak for themselves.

Proverbs 31:8–9 says:

“Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

Therefore, we pray for righteous advocacy, compassionate leadership, responsible institutions, and functioning systems that protect vulnerable women.

3. PROPHETIC ILLUSTRATION

In 2 Kings 4:1–7, a widow found herself in severe financial difficulty after the death of her husband. She was facing debt and the possible loss of her children.

God intervened through the prophet Elisha.

The widow was instructed to identify what she already possessed, gather vessels, and act according to the instruction she received. Her small supply of oil became the beginning of supernatural provision.

The miracle eventually enabled her to pay her debt and live from what remained.

This illustrates an important principle: God can use a small resource, a person, an opportunity, an institution, or a door of favor to change an entire family’s circumstances.

A widow may feel invisible within a complicated system, but God can cause her case to receive attention.

A document that seemed impossible to obtain can become available.

A responsible official can notice her application.

A community can rally around her.

A training opportunity can become a source of income.

A housing program can provide shelter.

A healthcare program can protect her family.

A scholarship can change her children’s future.
