Notice the language: “with me” and “together.”

A worship leader is not called to perform worship on behalf of everyone else but to help the congregation participate in worship.

The Holy Spirit must remain central. Paul wrote:

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” — Ephesians 5:19

Worship should therefore flow from a heart filled with God’s Word and yielded to His Spirit.

A worship leader needs continual spiritual renewal because public ministry cannot replace private devotion. The secret place must remain stronger than the platform.

Prophetic Illustration

Imagine a lighthouse standing beside a dark coastline.

The lighthouse does not create the sea, the ships, or the destination. Its assignment is to shine clearly so that those navigating can see their way.

A worship leader is similarly called to point people toward God.

The leader must not become the destination.

The microphone must never become the destination.

The song must never become the destination.

The emotional response must never become the destination.

Christ is the destination.
