Prayer Focus

Bible Exhortation

Zechariah 3:3–5 presents Joshua the high priest standing in filthy garments before the angel of the Lord. The filthy garments were removed and replaced with clean garments. This demonstrates God’s power to remove shame and establish a new spiritual identity.

Isaiah 54:17 declares that no weapon formed against God’s people shall prosper. Therefore, every assignment of darkness must bow to the superior authority of Jesus Christ.

Prophetic Illustration

Imagine a prisoner being forced to wear clothing identifying him as a prisoner even after his sentence has been cancelled. The clothing may still represent captivity, but the authority that imposed the captivity has already lost its legal claim.

Likewise, Christ has redeemed His people. Every spiritual identity contrary to God’s purpose must therefore be rejected in prayer. The believer does not fight for victory as though Christ has not won; the believer stands upon the victory Christ has already accomplished.
