Prayer Focus

Bible Exhortation
The Bible repeatedly reveals God as the defender and protector of His people.
David faced enemies who sought his life, yet he continually ran to God for refuge. Daniel was placed in a deadly situation, yet God shut the mouths of the lions. Esther confronted a plot designed to destroy God’s people, but God overturned the evil scheme.
Psalm 91 gives a powerful picture of divine protection. It speaks of God’s ability to deliver His people from hidden dangers, terror, pestilence, and destructive threats.
Isaiah 54:17 declares:
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.”
This does not mean believers should become reckless or ignore practical safety. Rather, it means we can place our confidence in God while exercising wisdom and appropriate caution.
The believer must not live under the domination of fear.
Fear says, “Something terrible will happen.”
Faith says, “God is my refuge and strength.”
Fear magnifies the threat.

The traveler may never know what danger was avoided.
This illustrates one dimension of divine protection.
Sometimes God protects by stopping danger.
Sometimes He protects by exposing danger.
Sometimes He protects by redirecting us.
Sometimes He protects through people, wisdom, security measures, timely warnings, or circumstances.
Sometimes He protects us from dangers we never even knew existed.
Therefore, our prayer is not simply:
“Lord, destroy my enemies.”
Our deeper prayer is:
“Lord, preserve my life, expose evil, restrain violence, frustrate wicked plans, guide my steps, and let Your purpose for my life prevail.”
The same God who delivered Daniel from the lions can preserve His children today.
