42 MFM Prophetic Prayer Points to Pray Before Responding to Bad News for Peace, Wisdom and Emotional Strength
Prayer Focus
To commit every painful, unexpected, disappointing, or disturbing report into the hands of God, asking for supernatural peace, wisdom, emotional strength, discernment, self-control, courage, divine direction, and grace to respond appropriately without panic, anger, fear, or destructive decisions.
Bible Exhortation
Bad news can arrive suddenly. It may concern family, finances, employment, education, relationships, business, travel, health, property, or other important matters. The first reaction may be shock, fear, anger, confusion, or sadness.
However, the first reaction does not have to become the final decision.
The Bible says in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee.” Philippians 4:6–7 teaches believers to bring troubling situations before God through prayer and thanksgiving so that His peace can guard the heart and mind.
The Scripture also says in James 1:19 that we should be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. This is especially important when responding to disturbing information.
Therefore, before reacting to bad news, pause and pray. Seek the facts. Ask God for wisdom. Do not make irreversible decisions while overwhelmed by emotion. Respond truthfully, responsibly, prayerfully, and with self-control.
The enemy may use shocking circumstances to produce panic, but God’s peace can preserve your mind and help you respond with wisdom.
Prophetic Illustration
Consider David at Ziklag in 1 Samuel 30. David and his men returned to find that their city had been destroyed and their families had been taken captive. The situation was devastating.
The Bible says David was greatly distressed. Yet David did not remain permanently controlled by the shock of the situation. He strengthened himself in the Lord and sought God’s direction.
This is a powerful picture of how to respond to bad news.
You may receive news that shakes you. You may cry. You may feel overwhelmed. But the news does not have to determine your final response.
Prophetic picture: May God strengthen you where you are weak, calm you where you are troubled, give you wisdom where you are confused, and direct your next step when the way forward seems unclear.
