BIBLE EXHORTATION
Beloved, greed for wealth and financial idolatry is a silent spiritual chain that can enslave the heart without obvious warning. The Bible warns us clearly that the love of money—not money itself—is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10). Many destinies have been derailed not because they lacked money, but because money became their master.
God desires prosperity, yes—but prosperity that is pure, disciplined, and under His lordship. When wealth becomes an idol, it replaces God in the heart. A greedy heart is never satisfied, always chasing more, yet never at peace.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:24 that no man can serve two masters—you cannot serve God and mammon. This means financial idolatry is spiritual bondage.
Today, as you pray, every spirit of greed, covetousness, material obsession, and financial idolatry will be broken in Jesus name.
LONG ILLUSTRATION
There was a wealthy merchant who started small. At first, he prayed, gave offerings, and honored God. But as his business grew, his heart changed. He stopped praying. He stopped giving. He began to cheat customers, manipulate prices, and even exploit the poor just to make more money.
One night, he had a dream. He saw himself carrying a heavy sack of gold, climbing a mountain. The higher he climbed, the heavier the bag became. Eventually, he fell off the cliff—still holding the gold tightly.
He woke up trembling. But instead of repenting, he said, “I must get more money to secure my future.”
Years later, he lost everything overnight due to fraud investigation. At his lowest point, he said, “I gained wealth but lost my soul’s peace.”
Greed promises security but delivers destruction. Only God-centered wealth brings peace.
