Prayer Focus

This prayer session is focused on asking God to raise leaders who operate in divine wisdom, righteousness, integrity, discernment, humility, courage and supernatural guidance. The warfare emphasis is against every spiritual influence that seeks to corrupt leadership, distort judgment, promote pride, encourage compromise, create confusion, or divert leaders from God’s will.

We are praying for leaders in the church, families, communities, organizations, institutions and nations to receive wisdom from above and to walk faithfully in the purposes of God.

Bible Exhortation

Leadership is a serious responsibility before God. Human intelligence, experience, education and political influence cannot replace divine wisdom. Solomon recognized this when he asked God for an understanding heart to judge God’s people rightly.

1 Kings 3:9: “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad.”

James also teaches that wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits.

James 3:17: “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits.”

Therefore, we must contend in prayer for leaders to reject corruption, pride, manipulation, injustice and compromise, and to receive wisdom that comes directly from God.

Prophetic Illustration

Imagine a leader standing at a major crossroads with many roads before him. Some roads appear attractive but lead to destruction. Others appear difficult but lead to righteousness and lasting victory.

Now imagine that instead of walking according to human pressure, personal ambition or deceptive counsel, the leader receives a divine lamp that illuminates the correct path.

That is what divine wisdom does.

Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
