God can use ordinary people for extraordinary purposes when they surrender themselves to Him.

Before ministering, therefore, pray for divine empowerment, but also pray for compassion. Pray for miracles, but also pray for wisdom. Pray for power, but also pray for humility. Pray for boldness, but also pray for love.

Prophetic Illustration

Imagine a lamp connected to a powerful electrical source. The lamp itself does not manufacture the electricity. It simply receives and displays the power flowing through it.

In the same way, the minister is not the source of divine power. God is the source.

A minister who depends upon personal strength eventually becomes exhausted, but a minister who continually depends upon God can serve with grace, wisdom, compassion, and spiritual strength.

Spiritual Symptoms

The following may indicate areas requiring prayer and spiritual preparation before ministry:
