Topic: The Awesome Power Of Meditation.
Scripture reveals meditation as a quiet but aggressive power. As believers dwell on God’s Word day and night, their minds transform, divine wisdom flows, negative strongholds break, and prosperity, guidance, peace, and spiritual maturity emerge through attentive stillness before God.
Text: Joshua 1:8, Psalms 1:1-3, 63:6, 1 Timothy 4:14-15

This morning, we are looking at one of the greatest sources of power.
There are only two things that can get you anything you want:
>>>Power.
>>>Wisdom.
Those two keys will get you anything you want. Today, we are discussing one of the keys to that power. You will be surprised to see how seriously the Bible takes the matter of meditation. The truth there, is that many people do not discover it.
Joshua 1:8 (KJV) says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
All as a result of meditating on the Word of God. So one key to obtaining what you want is what you see here. It looks simple and non-aggressive, but it is quietly aggressive.
Day and night, you keep talking about it, reciting it, and keep turning it over in your mind.
Then two things happen when you do that:
Your way will be prosperous.
You shall have good success.
Psalms 1:1-3 (KJV) says: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
The same prosperity that Joshua 1:8 is telling you. Look at this carefully as we enter into another year.
Psalms 63:6 (KJV) says:, “When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.”
You may say, “This is the Old Testament”, let us now go to the New Testament.
1 Timothy 4:14-15 (KJV) says, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.”
You can see from these scriptures we read that there is awesome power in meditation. Many Christians pray. Well done. Many believers pray. Well done. But many do not meditate.
In prayer, you speak to God. In meditation, God speaks back to you. The truth is this: when you change your meditation, you will change what you become. You will change who you become.
The trouble is many engage in negative meditation every day. And because of that negative meditation, they do not move to where they should move. Many will meditate on sickness, failure, past problems, offences, bad dreams or any bad vision someone had about them or any bad prophecy someone is giving them.
Whether it is a dream or a vision or prophecy working against you, you have the ability to reverse them by prayer.
Many come to church meditating on their problem; when they get home, they meditate on it; when they want to sleep, they meditate on it, even when they are driving; and as they keep meditating, their blood pressure keeps going up, causing more problems.
They were the ones meditating on the problem, which gave them high blood pressure. Now, they are meditating again on the high blood pressure. Many meditate on how to fornicate, how to pretend and how to deceive.
The truth is this: any evil thing you constantly meditate upon, all you will be doing is empowering the thing and giving it power.
Many of you listening to me here this morning need to ask God for forgiveness and to cry to God and say, “Father, pull down the stronghold of negative meditation in my heart.”
The Hebrew word for meditation in the original Bible is called Hagah. It means:
√√ To ponder, to think about it.
√√ To mutter, to keep saying it.
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord shall deliver him from them all.”
If unbelievers are learning incantations and anointing their tongues for evil, and instead of you using your tongue for good, you are meditating on the magnitude of the problem and on those who did not survive it. It is tantamount to feeding the problem.
To rehearse repeatedly. Let me tell you one thing beloveth; if we gather some people somewhere and give them scriptures and ask them to keep repeating, the awesome power they will generate will scare you because the Bible says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” When you keep saying it, you are generating power.
To chew something deeply, like a cow chewing the cud. The Bible says, “Be still and know that I am God.” In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
This is the first step to power. Stillness is a weapon in spiritual warfare. The world is too noisy. There are plenty of noise and distractions. So many people do not really have time to be still before the Lord. You cannot access power, purpose, or peace if you are constantly running around like the muddy water. As far as it does not settle, you cannot see clearness in that water.
So if there is no time you are still, you are always running; there is no solution.
Many do not meditate because they are always in a hurry. They pray quickly and run away. Many do not meditate because of sin and guilt in their lives. Many do not meditate because of indiscipline. Many do not meditate because of worry and anxiety. Many do not meditate because of social media, TV, and film.
In fact, right now, there is a whole group of deliverance candidates addicted to social media. They are so addicted that if you take their phones away, it is like you have killed them. I have seen children beating their parents because their phones were taken away.
That is why Philippians 4:8 tells us something. It is a scripture I think everyone should memorise. It tells us what everyone should meditate on. Many meditate on problems, and that is why there is a lot of powerlessness.
I am teaching you a key which, if you can begin to engage this year, you will be amazed by how much your life will totally change.
Philippians 4:8 (KJV) says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Those are what the Bible says you should meditate on. The truth is this, and it is a secret many ancient men of God know: God never reveals anything deep to anybody when they are not alone.
All the important people in the Bible God spoke to, He spoke to them alone. He did not speak to them when they were in a crowd. God reveals His secrets to the still and attentive. Most significant breakthroughs happened to men and women when they withdrew from the crowd and stayed alone.
The way we do sometimes is not the way people communicate. If a man says that he wants to marry a lady, and he talks and talks and talks, and before the lady replies, he waves her goodbye; the next day he does the same, and before she can reply again, he waves her goodbye; there is no way that lady will marry the man. But do you know that it is what most of us do to God? You will pray and pray. The time you should be quiet and still so He can speak to you, you have taken off. So it is a one-sided conversation. Prayer is not a one-sided conversation. This is why we need to start to meditate.
==> Meditation is:
• A deliberate focusing of the mind on a thought, truth or revelation for inner transformation.
• The art of listening to God with the ears of your heart.
• The process of soaking your mind in the Word of God until it becomes part of your consciousness.
• A spiritual technology for renewing the mind and transforming the soul.
• You begin to internalise the truth until it becomes an experience for you.
• The silent communion between the human heart and the spirit of God.
• That pathway that leads you to knowledge and understanding.
• A form of spiritual digestion inside you. It will now turn that revelation into conviction.
The stillness of the soul before God. “Be still and know that I am God.”
To use the modern-day language, a process of downloading divine information into your heart.
The inner laboratory where spiritual experiments occur. You are thinking in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
==> Meditation begins with a decision to be still before God. The quality of your meditation determines the quality of your spiritual life. That is why it requires quiet moments.
What you constantly meditate upon is what you will eventually manifest. Job said, “The thing I feared most is happening to me.” So the man had been fearful inside.
Meditation:
Transforms knowledge into revelation, and the revelation becomes power.
feeds your inner man like you feed someone with food and water. Let me be honest: you cannot rise spiritually above the quality of your meditation because it is through the meditation that the voice of God becomes clearer.
Is the secret of peace in the middle of storms.
helps you identify and silence evil thoughts. Negative thoughts come to everyone, but it is one thing for the enemy to push evil thoughts into your heart, and it is another thing for you to give them landing space to fertilise and grow.
You may not be able to keep birds from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from landing on your head. So you need to put an immigration officer at the door of your mind. Once those negative thoughts come in, throw them out and meditate on heavenly things.
It is that meditation that connects someone’s mind to divine creativity.
It transforms worry to wisdom, and we need to start practising it.
If you regularly practise meditation, particularly in this 2026, you will come back and share testimony. Where you thought it was a big problem, you did not know God had been talking to you about it.
==> You need to always meditate:
✓✓ To keep your mind constantly renewed by the word of God.
✓✓ To maintain divine focus in this noisy and distracted world.
✓✓ To receive divine direction and inner guidance.
✓✓ To strengthen your intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
These are principles of scripture we do not really go into, and believers do not study about them. Many of those funny religions sit quietly for hours and say they are meditating. Everything started from the Bible; it is we believers that are not using our facilities.
✓✓ To transform revelation into your daily living.
✓✓ To overcome fear, anxiety and depression, which are overshadowing the world now.
✓✓ To keep your spiritual fire burning.
✓✓ To align your own emotions with the will of God.
✓✓ To grow in wisdom, discernment and spiritual maturity.
✓✓ To understand scriptures deeply and accurately.
✓✓ To be able to hear the still, small voice of God.
✓✓ To activate creative thinking inspired by the Holy Spirit.
These are reasons to start practising it.
Now let me become practical. People do quiet time every morning, which you should do before you go out. In the morning hours, most places are quiet. If not, look for a quiet place in the day and do the following:
¶¶ You need a quiet place where you can be alone before the Lord.
¶¶ You may need to get to work early before others come if possible.
¶¶ Pray the Holy Spirit overshadow your being, your heart, and your mind.
¶¶ You now choose a scripture, that is, a short passage, a spiritual truth, a divine command, a divine revelation, or a divine promise.
For example: “The Lord is with me; I will not fear. What can man do unto me?” Just take one scripture.
Now read the scripture slowly, repeatedly or whatever revelation or command you want to meditate upon. Read it slowly and repeatedly; read it out loud.
¶¶ You now prayerfully ponder and think deep on the scripture or the thing you have chosen to meditate upon. Think about it. Begin to ask yourself. “What is God saying here? What is He trying to teach me here?
What lesson can I learn here?
∆∆ What is the implication of this scripture? Does it reveal anything about God to me?
∆∆ What do I need to change about my life with what I am reading?” Think deeply like that.
∆∆ “What does this scripture reveal?
∆∆ What action am I required to take?
∆∆ What action should I apply to my life?” After doing that,
You wait quietly before the Lord, inviting the Lord to speak. His quiet voice will speak to your mind.
∆∆ Whatever information you receive,
∆∆ Write it down. Because you may forget.
∆∆ Personalise this scripture you are meditating upon.
∆∆ Turn it to a confession, turn it to prayer, then turn it to a declaration.
∆∆ Obey that word and the instructions.
∆∆ Make it a regular affair.
∆∆ You may need a small notebook to jot down what God is saying to your heart. God speaks to everyone; whether you hear or not is another problem. The Bible says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20).
If God is abandoning you to go and talk to one prophet about you, you need serious help; you need to cry to heaven. It may not be that He is not talking; it may be that He is talking and you are not listening.
There are almost 50 ways He talks to people in the Bible. But there is one way He talks to all of us. There is something in you where you are sitting called conscience. It is our internal policeman God has put in us. If you are doing something really bad, something will say, “It is not good. Do not do it.” You may silence it, but it will talk. Even all those hardened criminals have a conscience. It will always talk. You see, you either have a good or bad conscience. But everyone has it.
Some ask questions, like, “How about those who did not hear the gospel and died?” God will use their conscience. Once you are born again, the Holy Spirit takes hold of that inner voice and begins to talk to you. That is how most believers hear God. That voice saying, “You are going out without prayer” – that is the voice. “You should not have answered that woman.” That is the voice. “Do not talk again,” that is the voice. “Shut up,” that is the voice. “Sit down there and do not react.” That is the voice.
All believers have the voice. All you need to do is practise what you have been taught. You will begin to hear what it is saying to you. A lot of people make mistakes with their lives because they did not listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking within them. This is not a year to experiment with your life.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Every curse of Goliath over my life, backfire, in the name of Jesus.
2. O God, arise, make my enemies your enemies and scatter them, in the name of Jesus.
3. O Lord, catapult me from where I am to where I should be, in the name of Jesus.
4. I (mention your name), refuse to expire in the valley of delay, in the name of Jesus.
5. Killers inside my blood, get out, in the name of Jesus.
6. Any generational sickness inside my blood, die, in the name of Jesus.
7. Enemies of my congratulations, what are you waiting for? Die, in the name of Jesus.
8. Every spiritual gun, shooting at my star, backfire, in the name of Jesus.
9. Dark powers laughing at my prayers, you are liars; die, in the name of Jesus.
10. Shame distributors, I am not your candidate: carry your shame, in the name of Jesus.
11. O God, arise, open the chapter of my new glory this year, die, in the name of Jesus.
